Submission guidelines

Please note: Drawing errors are not recognised and taken into consideration by Sophia. Therefore we ask you to always check your drawings against our design requirements and guidelines and adjust your drawings if necessary. It is important that the files you upload comply with our design requirements and guidelines. This way you avoid error messages or a delivered product that does not meet your expectations. 247TailorSteel provides you with semi-finished products. Past orders may differ slightly. During processing, the underside of the sheet metal/tube may be scratched by contact with machine.

Sophia checks for errors: Sophia detects a large number of errors fully automatically. However, because of different materials, plate thicknesses, edge and bend geometries, etc., 100% automatic defect detection is not yet possible. Therefore, each order is also checked manually. This reduces the risk of orders going into production that we cannot produce. If this is the case, you will receive a manufacturability analysis in advance, including proposals for changes. Besides the manufacturability analysis Sophia also helps you to better plan your development costs. Read more about Sophia here.

Note: On the submission of technical drawing files the general design requirements apply.

Specifications

  • Nominal dimensions with symmetrical tolerances.
  • Units in millimetres.
  • A STEP-file may contain both a mono-section and a composition. Quantities in a STEP composition are taken over.
  • Sophia recognises a flat sheet, curved sheet and a tube based on the geometry. Other geometry is not recognised.
  • No bevels, screw/thread holes or recessed holes may be drawn in the 3D model. These cannot be cut.
  • A sunken hole is recognised as an engraving.
  • Sophia supports STEP formats AP203 and AP214.
  • Holes may only be located on the top of the product.

  • A DXF/DWG-file may only contain a flat product.
  • Upload mono-drawings: one product per digital drawing.
  • Nominal dimensions with symmetrical tolerances.
  • True-to-scale drawings 1:1.
  • Drawings may not have any double contour lines.
  • All elements in the drawing must be at the same Z-value.
  • Outside contours must be closed.
  • Contours must not touch or cut through themselves or each other.
  • Single cutting lines are automatically recognized.
  • Information such as text, dimension lines and frames, etc. must be removed.
  • With the standard settings, the contours are recognized as follows:
    • Yellow: engraving
    • Green circle: starting point
    • Solid line: cutting contour
    • Other: ignore
  • Sophia supports:
    • DWG versions 13, 14, 2000, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013 (AutoCAD™ 2013-2017).
    • DXF versions 12, 13, 14, 2000, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013 (AutoCAD™ 2013-2017).
