From 3D to 2D in Sophia®: Export Part to DXF
You may sometimes want us to laser-cut metal plates and then do the bending operation yourself. That's not a problem, of course. Unless you only have your part available as a 3D object in a STEP file. If you submit that file to Sophia®, our automated processes ensure that the pressed part is made.
So we have come up with a solution for this. This new function is called: 'Export part to DXF'!
Thanks to this function in Sophia®, you can convert a STEP file (3D) to a DXF file (2D) at the press of a button. When you submit the latter file, we only perform the cutting work and you can take care of the bending operation yourself.
So how does this work?
- Upload your pressed part into Sophia®.
- Select the desired item.
- Click the ‘Export part to DXF’ button.
- Upload the DXF file (in the existing or a new project).
- Check the drawing.
- Submit your request.
You can find the button in 2 places.
In the list view, select the part and you can then click 'Export part to DXF' at the top right.
In the 3D view, the button is above the ‘Request a Quote’ button.
