What is the difference between engraving and marking?

An engraving is a permanent incision in a surface (in our case, metal) to add text, numbers, or other symbols. A marking is a small, recessed dot to indicate, for example, that a hole should be made there. A marking is actually a very small engraving.

In our blog about engraving and marking, we explain how to ensure that Sophia® recognizes engravings and markings in your drawing.
