How can I configure parts in Sophia®?

As soon as you start a new project, you will be taken to the “project configurator”.

Views

The list view is displayed by default. This view shows all the components you have added to this project, listed one below the other. At the top of the screen, you can also select the 3D view. This view shows all the components within the project listed one below the other on the left, and you can see each selected component as a 3D object.

Note: You can also view each product as a 3D object in the list view by clicking on the small image. We also refer to this as the product view. The product view differs from the 3D view in that it does not show all products, but focuses on a single product.

Configurations per part

You can set a number of properties and configurations for each part.

  • Change part name: Each part is given the name of the file you uploaded by default. If desired, you can change this by clicking on the pencil icon.
  • Add part to parts library: If you want to order parts – with assigned material and thickness – more often, it may be useful to add them to your part library. You can read more about this here.
  • Export part to DXF: With this button, you can convert a STEP file (3D) to a DXF file (2D) with a single click.
  • Remove part: You can remove a specific component from the project using the recycle bin.

You can configure a number of items using the drop-down menus. The following two configurations are required as a minimum in order to request a quote.

  • Material: Select the desired metal here. Tip: When you click on the drop-down menu, you can also start typing to search for a specific type of material.
  • Thickness: Here you can specify the thickness of plates or the wall thickness of pipes and tubes.
