How can I prevent deformation of holes in the bending zone?

Prevention will never be completely successful. The only way to reduce distortion is to draw slots. You position these slots on the fold line along the length of the hole in question, which is located in the bending zone. We laser cut both the hole and the slot. When we bend the part, there is less stress on the initial hole and deformation of the hole is minimized.

Important to know:

• The slot thickness must be at least 0.7 x the plate thickness – and at least 1.5 mm wide.
• The slot creates an extra hole in your part. If this is undesirable, you can consider welding it shut.
