How do I use the 3D view in Sophia®?

In the 3D view, you can see an overview of all the parts in your project, can view each part separately as a 3D object, and can make a number of configurations.

On the left side, you will see an overview of all your parts (and assemblies). If you click on a part here, it will appear as a 3D object in the window next to it.

In that window, you will also see a column with several functions on the left:

  • Zoom in: this allows you to zoom in.
  • Zoom out: this allows you to zoom out.
  • Fit: this allows you to adjust the height of the object.
  • Analytical view: this shows you all lines and pins (which define the type of line).
  • Set starting point(s): this allows you to set where the machine should start cutting.

If you left-click on the 3D object and hold it down, you can rotate the object.

If you right-click on the 3D object and hold it down, you can move the position of the object on the screen.

At the bottom of the screen, you will see a color legend. These colors are reflected in the 3D object.

  • The color blue represents the top of your part. Objects are cut from sheets with a top and bottom.
  • The pins with a purple dot indicate where the machine starts cutting.
  • The pins with an orange dot indicate where markings will be placed.
  • The pins with a yellow dot indicate where engravings will be placed.
  • The pins with a black dot indicate which parts will be cut out.
  • The pins with a light gray dot indicate what Sophia® (and therefore the machines) should ignore.
